On-site Health and Safety Training for Staff

This course is designed to help caretakers understand their duties related to safety and planned preventative maintenance. It covers a wide range of risks they may commonly face and provides details on how to manage and mitigate them.
By the end of the course delegates will understand:
  • How to take responsibility for personal safety and being safety aware

  • Hazard spotting

  • What safety checks they should be carrying out, the frequency of these checks and how to record them (including topics such as fire safety, legionella, asbestos, emergency lighting, lifts, electrical systems, extraction systems, ladders, gas equipment)

  • What statutory planned preventative maintenance they should be ensuring is undertaken at their school and how to document the work

  • How to vet and choose contractors and how to manage them when they come to the school to undertake work as well as what documentation they should be looking for. This will include a look at permit to work systems

  • Different systems to record safety and premises issues and resolutions

  • Manual handling awareness

  • Working with ladders

  • COSHH awareness

  • Asbestos awareness

  • Legionella awareness

  • Noise and hand/arm vibration awareness

  • Lone working
